Understanding Oxfordshire and our innovation ecosystem

Oxfordshire is located in the south east of England and is supremely well-connected; the city of Oxford is an hour from London and 45 minutes from London Heathrow, the UK’s busiest airport.

The population of Oxfordshire is around 725,300 (2021 census), yet the county has a gross value added (GVA) of £23 billion per annum (pre COVID-19) and is one of only three net contributors to the UK government.

Oxfordshire is the county surrounding Oxford, the city that for centuries has been a global centre of learning and innovation. Today, the region continues its pioneering work in the sectors that are vital for the world’s future health and economic growth. It is a powerhouse for the study and application of life-changing technology in health, space, energy, future transportation, and creativity.

Oxfordshire has exciting opportunities for both UK and foreign inward investment and welcomes investors that seek to build a long-term relationship with Oxfordshire for both investment and international trade.
