Oxford biotech OMass Therapeutics raises £230 million from international investors

Oxford-based OMass Therapeutics has announced an oversubscribed £230 million ($310 million) Series C financing round. The money will move its lead drug candidate through clinical trials and support the rest of its pipeline in endocrinology and immunology.  According to European Biotechnology Magazine, it is the second-largest round raised by a European biotech company so far in 2026.

The round was co-led by three new investors: Bain Capital Life Sciences, Forbion and Novo Holdings. Janus Henderson Investors, SV Health Investors and Jefferson Life Sciences also took part. All of OMass's existing investors joined the round, including Syncona, Oxford Science Enterprises, GV, Northpond Ventures, Sanofi Ventures, the British Business Bank and the University of Oxford.

OMass was spun out of Professor Dame Carol Robinson's lab at the University of Oxford. Its aim was to turn her pioneering research in native mass spectrometry into new medicines for disease targets that have historically been hard to treat. The company is headquartered at ARC Oxford.

The funding will take its lead programme, OMS1620, through Phase 2 clinical development for congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH), a rare inherited disorder affecting the adrenal glands, and for ACTH-dependent Cushing's syndrome. It will also generate initial clinical data for an inhibitor the company is developing for lupus and other autoimmune diseases.

Ros Deegan, Chief Executive Officer of OMass Therapeutics, said: "This financing comes at an exciting point in OMass' evolution as we advance OMS1620 into the clinic, with our SLC15A4 inhibitor poised to follow. With the backing of an outstanding group of new and existing investors, we are entering our next phase of growth with the resources to translate that progress into a portfolio of clinically differentiated medicines for patients."

Audrey Cacaly, Principal at Forbion, said: "These programmes are part of a pipeline built entirely through internal discovery, underscoring the productivity and breadth of OMass' platform and its potential to generate meaningful new medicines across endocrine and immunologic diseases."

As part of the financing, Evan Greif of Bain Capital Life Sciences and Audrey Cacaly of Forbion will join the OMass Board of Directors. Max Klement of Novo Holdings and Ali Jazayeri of SV Health Investors will become Board observers.
