Taylors, Oxford’s renowned gourmet sandwich and deli company has announced plans to open a flagship new café at Oxford North, the city’s recently launched global innovation district.
Taylors Oxford North will be part of the development’s first phase, which brings together state-of-the-art offices and laboratories, new homes, public parks and amenities to create a vibrant destination for workers, residents, visitors and the local community.
Located on the ground floor of The Red Hall, Oxford North’s landmark hub for science and innovation start-ups and SMEs, the new 80-seater café will offer both indoor and outdoor seating with views across Fallaize Park, the two-acre landscaped public park and Olafur Eliasson’s illuminated ‘Your planetary assembly’ sculptures.
Alongside its menu of delicious sandwiches, salads, freshly made pasta, delicacies and specialty coffees, Taylors will also provide catering services for meetings and events.
Due to open on 2 March 2026, Taylors Oxford North will join Taylors’ existing eight locations across the city. Initial opening hours will be Monday to Friday from 7.30am to 3pm, with plans to extend opening times as the district grows.
The new café will take Taylors’ locally employed team to more than 100 people.
Juri Vahala, Chief Executive Officer at Taylors said: “In what is our fourth decade of operating, we’re thrilled to be bringing Taylors to Oxford North. This will be our ninth café and a flagship for our brand with stunning interiors and welcoming views.
"Oxford North is an exciting new place that aligns perfectly with our commitment to community, sustainability, and great coffee and food. We can’t wait to welcome our new customers when we open.”
Simon Ruck, Managing Director at Oxford North added: “We’re all about working with local businesses and so for Taylors to be partnering as our new café operator is great news for everyone. We have shared values in relation to quality, value, exceptional service and community.
“Taylors’ focus on local sourcing and creating welcoming spaces along with its much-loved wide-ranging menu will add real vibrancy to the new district and be a benefit for the companies based here as well as those people living locally and visiting.”
Fit out of the café has commenced with opening planned for 2 March this year.
Oxford North is being delivered by Oxford North Ventures, the joint venture company of Thomas White Oxford, the development company of St John’s College, Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan and Stanhope.
Within The Red Hall, approximately 2,500 sq ft of flexible retail space will be available for one, two or three units to suit a range of occupiers.
Across Oxford North more widely, plans are also being explored for additional recreational and leisure uses, including within the proposed hotel. Future development phases will introduce further ground-floor retail, contributing to a dynamic and evolving mix of amenities across the district.
